I am a stay-at-home mother of three, and I've been using real nappies since my oldest son was 6 weeks old (that's four years and counting..). I decided early on in my pregnancy that I wanted to use washable nappies because of their environmental benefits. I quickly learnt that they were also cheaper, and much nicer to use than disposables (many of which smell of chemicals as soon as they are used).

As I wasn't sure which nappies would be best for me, I contacted a local advisor for a nappy trial. After trying several different nappies, I decided on terry squares (for ease of drying since I had limited space to dry inside during the winter) and bamboo shaped nappies (for extra absorbency during the night). I also use Motherease wraps, which work especially well with prefolds and flat nappies.

I am especially interested in sustainability, and my interests include Transition Towns, and Permaculture. I also run the local NCT Bumps and Babies group in Bolton, and help out with the VegParentsUK support group for families looking to raise their children in a vegetarian or vegan family.
